originally released on manikin records in late 1998, "nodular" became ramp's first major exposure to the world of electronic music.

billed as "germany's response to britain's invasion of sequencer-based and mellotron-heavy retro electronica from redshift, radio massacre international, and node", ramp quickly became more than just a word-of-mouth recommendation among listeners of the genre. in fact, "nodular" turned out to be one of the label's best-selling albums of the year, being a close second to ashra's "private tapes".

in the course of the years "nodular" has become a bit of a classic album release in the style commonly known as "berlin school", and no-one less than brian lustmord once complimented ramp on the release. now, if that's not a recommendation i don't know what is.

ultimately, the limited-edition release of 444 copies (hence the subtitle "444 oscillators") sold more than 800 copies before it became unavailable in around 2004/05. every now and then, original copies change hands at outrageous prices on the internet so it's about time to make the album available in its original form as a digital download and celebrate ramp's 21st birthday this way.
