about

in 2009, tanner menard organised a sleep concert performance at the premises of antenna gallery, located in new orleans, louisiana. he invited a large number of ambient music performers from all around the globe to contribute material to "sommeil -- a concert for sleep" which was to be used for a continuous current of sound to fall asleep to.

based on the original idea of sleep concerts, held at stanford university in the early 1980s, the performance was not only inspired but also endorsed by robert rich who was some kind of spiritus rector in the background. of course, my own work at that time was strongly influenced by robert's so it was an honour for me to be asked to contribute as well.

when going through my audio files, i came across the material i had submitted back then. some of it had already been used for other recordings (e. g. "permafrost") but most of the more abstract-sounding textural drones had been shelved after "sommeil". i assembled them as a continuous piece of slowly changing dronescapes for you to fall asleep to.

sweet dreams all.
